On Satnrday last tho Mayor, Mr Wood, received several telegrams in referenco to tho presentation of South African war niedalß. It appears that 26 medals wero forwarded to Mr Wood for presentation, end of theto only ono has co far been htuidod over, and it was the Mayor's intention to presont tho remainder at tbo approaching Mounted Hifles' ball. On Saturday, however, Mr Wood was advised that his Excalleney tho Govornor had arranged to present tho medals on Wednosday, 30th inst., about 8 p.m., and Mr Wood was requested to communicato with StaftMajor Dunk as to Iho necessary arrangements.
