The climax in connection vrilh the dissatisfaction expressed with the recent Coronation arrangements was reached on Saturday evening, whon at a public meeting, held in the Town Kail, the Celebration Committee tendered their resignation. The resignation was accepted. It was resolved th.it: —The statement of receipts and expenditure, as submitted by the lnte committee, be accepted ; a committee of seven bo ap. pointed to entertain lho public and school children on Coronation day. On a ballot being tnken, tho following wore elected :—Messrs Rumble (chairman), Viucent (treasurer), Piercy (secretary), Rioimcr, Petersen, Halford and Haul. It was decided to meet in Mr Vincent's office on Tuesday night. Tho committee is a good representative one, consisting us it dors ot two members of tho Improvement Committee, two of tho School Committee and threo of the public. Wo hear Mr Hutchings will leave to. day (Monday) week and that the townspeople will entertain him at a social on Friday ovening. The Manchester Road Board did not accept any of tho tenders submitted for the working of the Gorge pnnr.
