Hokitika, Friday. The citizens of Hokitika mrde a "ireseniation to Mayor Michel la*t evening ;n recognition of his service? a? Mayor for the past seven years r.nJ his lon^ connection with the Fire IWimJo and other public institutions of the town. A large number were present, including the Hons. Marshall and Holmes, and the Mayor of Eoss, and a congratulatory telegram from the Acting-Premier rraread amid great applause. The presentation consisted ot an illuminaied address to Mr Michel and a solid mltclsalver and tea-set to Mrs Michel. The proceedings were marked with great enthusiasm, tho function iiassini o:T with great heartiness. Tho fpteehes were most compliiaentarj.to Mr Michel's public serrices.
