. A lad named Peter Ballantyee, livirmia Madras Street north, Cliristchurcir met with an accident on Wednesday alcernoon. He w;u mixing gunpowder with kerosene in a cm, and, tindin" the receptacle leaking, he endeavoured to stop the leak by soldering. As soon as: the hoi iron was .applied, however, the tin exploded, with tho result that tko boy s face was seriously injured. Dr Russell was called in, and hopes to bo able to preserve the lad's sight.
