THE STATE AS AN EMPLOYER.
The Premier's frantic efforts to resist the provisions of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act being applied to' the employees of the proposed. State' coal mine shows that as an employer he wants to have the advantage over private firms. As the Act applies to ordinary employers it is only right and just that it should also be put into motion in the case of the Government. Judging by Mr Seddon's utterances he believes the Arbitration and Conciliation Act to be a wise measure and yet he does not wish it put into operation where the State is concerned, thus showing th!at m theory and practice he is not the same individual. The Government is embarking on the coalyard business in opposition to private enterprise andthev should certainly make the same restrictions apply to both?
