(Per Press Association.) . ..'■ Cheistchtjbch, August 27. , -Thelease of <jhe two young girls who left home-to go to the Uiccarton races, and stayed at the, course there for. some days after sleeping under, the trees, was before the Court to-day. The girls were withoutfood, and it is alleged, broke into a house there to- secure it.- At'the Court to-day, they were charged with breaking and entering, but it was" subsequently changed to a charge of theft. The story of the girls' exploit, as narrated by the police, is a most unpleasant one. One of the girls named Ashis about sixteen and a half and tke girl Bond about fourteen years of age._ The latter had :been pre-" viously convicted, of theft in company with another girl aboutherherownage. ;Af ter; hearing counsel, his Worship agreed to defer passing sentence -until -another charge is investigated, in which -certain young men are charged with improper intimacy with the younger girl, who was allowed to be taken in: charge by the Salvation Army, the girl Ash being taken care of'-till" the nest case isi heard.
