STOCK MARKET,

Messrs Gorton and Son's stock report: —

On Friday last we held a stock sale in our Feilding yards. Only a few pens'of cattle came forward, but we had the heaviest yarding of sheep we have had for some months. The demand was not equal to the supply, and bidding was brisk only for the better sorts, which fully maintained late.rates. Low:conditioned and inferior sorts were easier in value, and more difficult of sale. We quitted all the sheep but about 1200, and all the cattle but an odd pen or two. There was. a good demand for lambs, and all sold at a slightly increased value. Wequote;—

Cattle—2 and 3-year steers, £5 ss; 2-year steers, £3 11s and £3 12s 6d; weaners, 25s to 30s; empty, heifers, £3; small dairy heifers, £3 4s.
