Mellsop. rriHIS Company is being promoted _L for the purpose .of establishing Public Saleyards at Palmerston North. An option has been secured over 30 acres of land known as Pascal Brothers' property, having a frontage to Foxton Line of about 15 chains. It is thought that this property would provide ample room for paddockingin conjunction with !the Saleyards, and that a portion of the land could be sold at» an advanced price after the establishment of Saleyards. The block is offered to the Company at the rate of ;£l5O per acre. If it is considered inadvisable to secure so.large an area as 30 acres, it is probable that Messrs Pascal Bros, wopld dispose of from five to ten acres at a reasonable rate. The promoters would call the attention of intending shareholders to the fact that a railway siding could be laid to the. yards at a very small cost, and the sidin-<? could also be carried on the Sho-w Ground, and a considerable revenue derived by landing stock, implements, and other heavy goods right on to the ground at show time. The Shares have been fixed at £ io each, payable £1 on application, j£l on allotment, and the balance in calls not exceeding £1 each, at intervals 'of not less than three months. It would be safe to" estimate that more than 15,000 head of cattle, 150,000 sheep, and 1500 horses would pass through the yards annually, these numbers at the yardage fees usually levied would produce a revenue of over £1500 ppr annum, which, after allowing the sum of £500 for upkeep of yards and1 general expanses would provide £1000 per annum to pay dividends to shareholders, without taking into consideration revenue from other sources. If the Saleyards are established they would be run on much the same lines as the Addington Yards at Christchurch which are ppen to all Auctioneers, w n o draw lots and sell in rotation. A yard age fee would be charged on al) B t oc k entered, and the commission ch» xee A i, v the Auctioneers would be reduced to compensate for this charge. The promoters invite investors to take up shares with every confidence that the venture will prove a highly remunerative investment. Yards of the kind in other parts of the Colony are in sonfe cases paying over 25 per cent to their pro. pnetors,. and there is every reason to believe that the Manawatu Yards should be at least equally profitable. Shares to the value of over «2000 have been applied for. ~ , MISS BROWNE "VXTII^ Resume Lessons in Music> T V .Theory and French, at her resii dence, Arriesbury-street, on Monday, 4th February, T ermSi one ga^'i I quarter.
