Horrible Outrage.

(Per Press Association.) Dunedin, January 28. A horrible outrage was perpetrated on a child, aged three years and a half, at St. Clair late on Saturday evening by Samuel Flaherty, aged 25. - He lured the child among the sand hills and brutally mutilated her. A mau named Coxon caught Flaherty and took him to the station. The child is in a critical condition.

Flagherty was brought before the Magistrate this morning and remanded till Friday. He was hooted and groanrd at by a large crowd, and after the proceedings the police took him away priyatelv.
