Fatal Car Accident.
ONE KILLED AND THREE
INJURED
(Por Pross Association). Dunedin, October 27. While tho 9.30 Roslyn car was on its way to town this morning tho gripper failed to catch the rope. The efforts of the lineman wero unavailing owing to the greasy nature of tho rail, consequent of the rain. Tho car sped liko lightning down tho track. Nino passengers wero on, board.
A boy jumped off .aud escaped with slight bruises.
Whon opposite tho Catholic Cathedral a Chinaman, who i 3 behoved to have jumped off, was thrown against an iron fonco and killed. His name was Kin Hey, and a piece of bono, 7 inchci loinj, was knocked out of the front of his forehead.
Opposite tho Shamrock Hotel the car turned over with tho passengers underneath.
The three mo3t severely injured were removed to' tho hospital. Thoy arc— Alexander Mathoson, who sustained injuries at tho back of his spino and chest and will probably recover; Kathleen Moore and her niece, who is unconscious and is suffering from slight concussion of tho brain ; Lay Ling is suffering from concussion of tho brain with scalp wound and general shock to the systoin.
