THE STOCK MARKET.

Messrs Abraham & Williams report as . follows :— Sales since last report have been held at Levin, Colyton, Dannovirke and Palmerston. At Levin wo had a full yarding and a good attendance. Bidding was brisk, especially for cattle, and an almost total cleamnce was tho result. At Colyton the yarding was small, in most casos sales were effected at vendors' prices. At Dannovirke we only had a small entry, a line of 80 stcors advertised failed to put in an appearance, However, stock that came forward sold well, a pen of prime fat heifers making 7/1/-. At Palmerston we had a heavy yarding of cattle, 000 head being brought under the hammer, mostly grown bullocks and good steers. There was keen competition for grown bullock's, but for , younger cattle and fomalo stock tho bidding was dull and thero was little demand. Sales in most cases, however, took place before the day was over. We quote: — At Levin—Three and 4 year bullocks, 6/3/- to 6/16/-; 2£ and 3 year steers, 5/-/-to 5/4/-; IS months and 2 year steers, 4/5/- to 4/10/-; 10 month steers, 8/1/- to 3/8/-; yearling steers, 2/17/-; springing heifers, 4/C/- to 4/12/6 ; forward cows, 4/4/- ; empty heifers, 3/17/- to 4/-/- ; yearling heifers. 38/- to 2/-/- ; yearling and 18 month heifers, 2/16/- to 2/18/-; cows in calf, 3/15/-; fat cows, 4/10/- to 4/16/-; heifers in calf, 3/15/-; store cows, 2/18/6 ; hoggets, 13/1 to 14/1 ; cull heggets, 7/- to 9/-; store ewes, 10/11 to 12/6; ewes and lambs, 10/4 ; fat ewG3, 13/5 to 13/7 ; forward wethers, 14/4 to 15/1. At Colyton—Ewes and lamb.?, 15/-'; hoggets, 12/-; springing cows, 4/10/- to - 5/-/-; store cows, 3/7/- to 3/15/- ; springing heifers, 4/16/-; weaners, 32/6. At Dannevirke—Fat heifers, 7/5/-; 2 year steers, 4/7,6 ; 15 month steers, 3/6/-; yearling steers, 2/4/-; fat and forward owes, 13/7 ; hoggets, 12/-. At Palmerston—4 and 5 year bullocks, 6/6/-, 6/12/-, 6/12/0; 3 'and 4 year bullocks, 0/1/-; 3 year bullocks, 5/2/6, 5/5/-, 5/8/-; 2 and 2{- year steors, 4/2/6, 4/7/6, 4/12/6; 18 monlli ami 1, .. .i steers, 3/4/- to 8/7/0 ; yearling steers, 2/11/-; fat and forward cows, 4/-/- to 4'C/6: fat cows, 5/4/-; springing heifers, 4/5/- to 4/10/6 ; 2 year heifers, 3/-/-, yearlings and 18 month heifers, 2/10/ ; springing cows, 5/-/- to 7/-/-; store cows, 2/12/6 to 2/18/-; fat owes 15/7 to 16/-; fat wethers, 16/6 to 17/1; 4 and 6 tooth wethers. 14/7 ; fat and forward ewes, 13/6 ; hoggets, 12/9 to 13/2 ; weaner pigs, 5/-.

The Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report as follows on their Palmorston sale : — There was a good attendance and bidding was brisk. We had a fair yarding, including some pens of prime fat wethers and fat bullocks which realised good prices. Backward heifers and young cattle were slightly slacker, but other sorts sold well and we had a good clearance. We quote : —Fat bullocks 7/10/-, empty heifers 2/19/-, yearling heifers 33, , '29/-. Sheep.—Fat wethers 17/-, fat ewes 16/ , 13/7, store wothers 14/6, 14/3, ewes with lambs at foot 14/10. Pigs.—s/6 to 9/- for weavers and stores.
