JOTTINGS.
As some difficulty has been experienced by relatives in getting letters, papers and packages to " our boys at the front," the Government has determined that rolls of members of the various contingents shall be kept at every posi office throughout the colony, the sample addresses will also be available, so that persons desirious of communicating with the New Zealanders in South Africa may make no mistake. A niece of Lord Roberts (Mrs Colly) is at present on a visit to Wellington, being the guest of Mrs E. Balcombe Brown, Tinakori Road. Mrs Colley's mother is sister to the Field-Marshal commanding in South Africa. Colonel Commandant W. Guise Tucker, C.8., R.M.A., on St. Patrick's Day telegraphed from Portsmouth to Lord Roberts as follows :—" In your honor.,.all Royal Marine Artillery are wearing-> shamrock to-day.—Command-
ant." Colonel Tucker received the fol
lowing reply from Bloemfontein :—"To b Commandant Boyal Marine Artillery, Hearty thanks for message. I fully appreciate compliment paid to me. I also wore shamrock on 17th.—Boberts, Bloemfontein."
