Chamber of Commerce.

The Council met last night at the Borough Chambers, Mr R, Leary (the president in the chair), and Messrs Andrew Guy, F. Pirani, Jno. E. Russell and the secretary (Mr Mirsch) being present. Apologies were received from Messrs E. N. Barraud and W. T. Wood for unavoidable absence.

Messrs Karl Anderson (Rongotea) and P. A. McHardy were elected members of the Chamber.

Correspondence was received, re Gorge Road, further action suspended for reply from Fitzherbert Road Board; road through Siberia.

Pahiatua Road—Mr Pirani reported having seen the Minister.

Mr R. S. Abraham—Leave of absence granted.

Letter from Mr Aitcheson and fifteen business establishments in Main-street West, re posting difficulties at railway station.—The secretary was instructed to act and report at next meeting. Mr E. 0. Hurley was elected to tlie Council in place of Mr C. N. Clausen, resigned.

Post Office—Resolved to ask the Post-master-General for a brick building with more suitable accommodation in lieu of present premises; the Minister to be invited to observe by personal inspection the reasonableness of the request; to get up a monster petition to be signed by the people of the district in support of the movement.
