(Extraordinary Press Association). Received May 18, at 8.40 a.m. London, May 17. An unofficial cablegram announcing the relief of Mafeking was read in the House of Lords. Received May 18, at 8.55 a.m. London, May 17. Lord Halsbury read a fresh cablegram announcing the relief of Mafeking to the House of Lords, but it was unofficial. Crowds gathered round the Mansion House awaiting news of the relief of Mafeking. There is much excitement. The Boers lately increased the numbers of the force investing Mafeking in order to combat the relieving column, which consists of picked men from tho Kimberley Light Horse, Roberts' Horse, Briarhall's force and the Imperial Volunteers. BADEN-POWELL CAPTURES A
GENERAL AND 90 BOERS. Advices from Delagoa Bay state that
Colonel Baden-Powell captured General Elofl* and ninety other prisoners durin^ Saturday's desperate fighting.
(Received May 18, at 9.45 a.m.) Sydney, May 18. There is great enthusiasm about the relief of Mafeking. There was cheering, and crowds singing patriotic songs waited in the streets till a late hour for official confirmation of the news.
