Accidents and Fatalities.

To-day an inquest was held on the body of a poor afflicted creature named Edward James Donoghue, found in a ditch in the suburbs. He was an epileptic, taking sometimes three severe fits in a day, but he declined to go into ' the Benevolent Home. The medical evidence was to the effect that he had a t seizure, and falling into the ditch, was suffocated by the soft mud. Auckland, May 14. The cutter Nancy, which was capsized on the Firth of Thames, was lying at anchor, when a squall struck her, causing ' the stay-sail to run up. This brought the vessel into the wind. The main-sail being up, the vessel heeled over, and the water filled the cabin, causing her to sink. The captain (Bloornfield) was | below. The mate called out to him, but I the vessel sank before he could get out.
