Timaeu, May 14. James Quinlari, a labprer...sO years of age, a widower, living with his children in Suburban-street, shot himself in his house last night. Death was instantaneous. He had been complaining of ill-health lately and seemed stupid. At the inquest a verdict of temporary insanity was returned.

Christchurch, May 15. When the case, Christchurch Operative Bootmakers' Society v. A. Lusty, claim contributions due, which had been adjourned for argument, came before the S.M. Court, defendant's counsel said he had since looked into the matter and found the contention wrong and the Society right. Accordingly the amount was paid into Court. Counsel said he found stowed away in a corner of the Conciliation Arbitration Act a clause which gave power to sue members for subscriptions.
