FLIGHT OF THE COMMANDOES.

London, May 14. On Friday last Lieutenant-General French's cavalry seized one of the drifts over the Valsch river, but too lato to cut the railway north-east of Kroonstad, as the Boers had already gone.

A large bridge to the southward of, Kroonstad was found to be destroyed, but another had been left intact.

A force of the enemy is now entrenching at Staat, to the west of Ventersburg. The British front extends for thirty miles rounding off the enemy's forces.
