The W.C.T.U. Convention.
(Per Press Association) s Auckland, February 16, I At a meeting of the W.C.T.U. Con- ■ vention to-day, the President, Mrs i ! Schanackenburg, reviewed in her address the departmental work for the ; year. The treasurer reported that no Union was in debt, the income being £861 and the expenditure £703. Miss Powell, corresponding secretary, reported 17 new Unions formed, half through the efforts of Miss Mannders in ! the South Island and a large increase of membership over any previous year (about 400). The total on the roll is nearly 1700. i The report of the literary departj rnent were furnished by Mrs Isabel May 1 and the legal and Parliamentary report ! by Mrs C. W. Sheppard anel Miss Keith urging the watching of Parliamentary ] legislation. The reports were discussed and j adopted.
