He was an old colonist, having arrived at Collingwood about six and twenty years ago. He was afterwards a storekeeper at Eaneiri m the early days of the West Coast Goldfields where he did very well. Nothing daunted by this misfortune he made a new beginning, and there appeared every likiihopd that fortune was again about to smile upon him, but m overexerting himself at his work, he inflicted the injury which has at length terminated his existence. Wherever Mr Lash has been he always made warm friends. With a naturally kiud disposition and general amiability, he was one of the first to lend assistance m relieving, distress m whatever form it presented itself. He had been twice marritd, and leaves a widow and a large family behind him, who are m very poor circumstances-. He was- a member of the Masonic body, and received a Masonic funeral yesterday. — Star.
