GENERAL SUMMARY.
Sixty-seven cases of cholera were reported at Brindisi on the 16th of April. Reports from all quarters of Ireland on March 30th sent to Gladstone, indicate the country to be m a state of feverish excitement, and the failure of the Home Rule policy will lead to outbursts of yiolence. George Augustus Sala, on his return journey to ' Ireland from Australia, had been attacked by fever m India. Despatches to April 11 say he is seriously broken m health and spirits/ The last words that W. B. Forster, , late Chief Secretary for Ireland, uttered before his death were, "No Home Rule." Reports of the murder of Bishop Harrington by Africans of King Monatago have been confirmed by official despatches. . Charles Crown, who threw the petition into the Queen'a carriage, has been released. The roll was thought to be dynamite at first, but it turned out to be only a prayer for the release of a prisoner.
