CORRESPONDENCE.
A CONTRADICTION.
(TO THE EDITOK OF THE STANDARD.) Sir, — A few days a?o a friend of mine showed me the Times m which it was stated potatoes were charged from Longburn and Palmerston to Foxton at 9s 2d and 10a 3d. Having a lot of potatoes to dispose of, this statement threw a damper on my spaculative ideas, but before giving m I interviewed the guard, when I was informed that the charges were 5s and 5s Bd. As the statement of the Times ia most misleading I would thank you to publish this ia your next issue for the good of the farmers who may intend to forward their produce by railway. — I am, &o, Settles. Karere, May 6th, 1886.
