The shippers of fruit are indignant after their trouble and expense, and feel certain that the exhibits will reach London ruined. 'Wellington, Thursday. Sergeant-Major McGovern, who took a prominent part m arresting Winiata, the murderer, m the Waikato some years ago, has beent appointed inspector m charge of the Kawhia district. With regard to the New Guinea question, it is understood that the New Zealand Government are willing that' Queensland should undertake the administration of tho affairs of * that islaud.
