THE MEAT INDUSTRY.
The report of the produco markets of New Zealand, dated 6th December, 1883, gives the following :— This industry has received a severe' check, owing to the low level prises have touched m London. Our friends there have withdra »n - the balance of tho Doric's shipment from the market, and are , using every effort to develo*p new channels for trade. It is dvi-' dent : that October and November are the most unfavourable months for realising the produce, and it was at least unfortunate that such heavy consignments reached London at this j tincture. No exception is taken to the quality of the meat, and at their own prices the trade appears able to absorb ull that we can place on the* market, but their ideas of value will not suit shippers; strenuous efforts are now being made by consignees to command more remunerative rates.
