Waste Land Board.
The usual fortnightly meeting of the Wellington Was'e Lad s Board was ■eld on Thursday afternoon. Present— 'essrs Bunny (m the chair), Beetham, Mason, and W. Waring Taylor. The schedule of land sold since last meeting showed" that 76 acres, realising £114, had been disposed of. Mr Beetham moved the following 1 , resolution : — "That section No, 4, Block X, Man* be changed from a cash section to v deferred payment section, and that the price be altered from £2 lo 30s per acre." Mr Mason moved, as an amendment, " That the price be £2 per a^re," and after some discus-don the resolution thus amended, was carried. A letter was read fcom Mr D. Chacaier coyening a petition from Pahiatua settlers asking the Board to move the Government to set apart a portion of the township reserve (promised as a site for a cenv<> tery and park) as a burial ground. It was resolved that the Minister for Lands ' should be requested to reserve a suitable site m the township reserve, not exceeding ten acres, for a cemetery for the Pahiatna block. A letter was read from Mr IVi'Oardlej of Masterton, asking for permissiou to hand over to the Pahiatua s ttlei s two acres of his deferred payment section No. 26, Block VIII, Hnngahao, for a school site, and it was resolved to ask tLe Government to consert to this arrangement, if it was found such could be entered into. A resolution was moved by Mr Masou, "That copies of all papers relating to any land sale m the Provincial District should be sent to all Postmasters at least a week pievious to any sale, and that the atteniion of the public be drawn to this fact by means of advertisements m the newspapers." The motion was unanimously agreed to. Mr Taylor read a letter whioh he had received from Mr (Jarsweli, askiug the Boarc l to direct the »ai i vey of a piece of land between Pukururu and Ohau, and it was decided to enquire into the matter. The Board then adjourned.
