THE CHORAL SOCIETY.

(TO THE EDITOR OB" THE STANDARD.) Sir, — I understand that a meeting members of the late Palmersion North Choral Society has been convened The date on which the meeting is to bo held have not ascertained. I think the conductor is to be commended for the steps I: hear he has decided to take, viz,, to suggest the appointment of a mere BUitable successor. I will say nuthing here- that might cause hira annoyance, but I am.sure that he will admit that a changa is very desirable. It is a pity he did not see the matter m this light before. I hope before lon» to be able to feel that the Palmerston North Choral Society can hold its own with credit. It is to be regretted its affairs have been so mismanaged from the start, as under diffe ent contract it might, now have been m a flourishing Btate state^ instead of languishing till it gradually succumbed. Let us hope that the next f period m its history will be more auspicious, and. that it will profit by the experience of the past few months, and exercise a wiser discretion m future.— -I am, <fee, ■.-..■• Well-wisheb.
