Sydney, April 30 The Conference between the Premiers of Victoria, Now South Wales and Quemsland, and Admiral Tryon, <n the subject of a concerted scheme for the defence of the Australian sea has concluded its sittings. The result has not yec been made public, but it is expected it will transpire on Monday next. London, April 30. All the members of the Aus ralian cricketing team are now here, and they will begin regular practice' on Monday next. The reply of M. De Lyannis to the ultimatum presented to him by the Powers has been received. He states that Greece cannot yield to dictation, but will agree to disarm upon receiving a promise to consider her claims. Rangoon, April 529. Advices from Upper Burmah state that destructive fires have occurred at Mandalay, resulting in the burning of a large portion of the town. It ts believed that the conflagration was the result of incendiary action. Athens, May 1. M, De’yannis disavows the defiant speech recently attributed to him, and the publication of his reply to the European ultimatum shows it was couched in milder terms than was reported. The document ex* presses a willingness to disarm, but suggests that it should be done in a gradual manner,
