(Dunetan Times) Combined Vincent Maniototo 12 Toapeka 9. Under perfect weather conditions, I and on a good ground, at Roxburgh en Thursday week, the combined Vincent Maniototo team beat Toapeka by 12 pointe to 9. it was a poor gamecertainly not op to coonty standard—but it served the purpose of proving that a combinad team is not a success. The Vincent team on its own would bave done much better. Shortly after the Btart Tewnsend bad a knee injured; he struggled on under obvious difficulty to balf time, when be bad to retire ; Bnd this fact no doubt bed a consider able influence on the Combined team's indifferent showing. The Greens soon got in an attacking position as tbe result of a great kick by Forrester. Erridge saved and Eck hoff further improved matters for his ■ide. Tho visitors were awarded a free kick and Hannay made a good attempt to goal. A few moments later a nice passing rush saw A Townßend hand on to Niven, who cut out two opponenti, and then gave it to Marslin who went over to ecore. Hannay's kick went wide.

Combined 3, Tußpeka 0. Miller got bis side into trouble, but Townsend saved with a nice kick. Good tackling stopped a likely looking Green passing rush, and a few minutes later, after Hannay bad missed a penalty kick, McCullum scored a nice try. Tbe at tempt to convsrt was a poor one. Combined 3, Tuapeka 3. The was no sddition to the icore at half time. / Shortly after changing ends Jolly marked and dropped a nice goal. Combined 6, Tuapeka 3. Tbe next incident of note was a great run by Forreßter, who took the ball beautifully going at top. He was stopped just in time. Leyden made a good attempt to pot a goal, and im mediately .afterwarde Jolly was unsuc cessful with a similar effort from about the same spot. Niven kicked a penalty for Vincent.

Combined 9, Tuapeka 3. Tbe borne forwards with a good rush took play into the Vincent's 26, where tbey turned a free kick to good account. Combined 9, Tuapeka 6. Forrester put in a good ran and just failed to touch down in a race for tbe ball A nice rush by the Green backs waa spoiled by Jolly who gave a rotten pass to Hannay when a score looked a certainty. Hannay then made a great dash for the corner, and was stopped just in time. The Greens were then awarded a penalty, and Hannay landed a beauty from well out. Combined 12, Tuapeka 6. Joßt before time tbe borne team's forwards made a good rush, which ended in McLanghlan scoring. Tbe attempt to convert failed, and tbe game ended. Combined 12, Tuapaka 9. Mr T. Waigbt was referee.
