Accidental Death.

A tragic death happened at Patearoa on Saturday afternoon, a w»ll-known resident, Mr Fred Schrick, being the victim. He was shot through the temple by a bullet from a pea rifle. From what we cbh, gather he was down at his brother-in-law's place (Mr R. M'Skimming) where he kept his dog, about noon and said he was going ing for a shot. He went to his own bouse ,°and shortly after two a youth named Bobbie Carr went over and found him lying on the floor in a back room. Mr M'Skimming, on receipt of the news went across and found Mr Schrick dead with a box of cartridges and the rifle beside him. An inquest was b-dd at the hotel on Monday when Mr P. Bleach, J.P , was acting coroDer, and the jury consisted of Messrs Ayton (foreman), A. L-evon, W. Pearson and C. Hamilton. After henring the evidence they returned a verdict of "accidentally shot." The funaral took place at Ranfurly on Tuesday, the service being conducted by the Rev. S. Moffatt.

The rifle owned by deceased was very "light in the pull," and he had been freqaently warned that it- wna dangerous.
