"All is lost save honor!" was the announcement, in a condensed form, of Francis I. in a letter to. his mother after the defeat of Paris. Napoleon used, the same expression after the battle of Waterloo. On his arrival at the Elysee, three days after the battle. Caulaincourt exclaimed: "All is lost!'' —"Except honor," added. Napoleon. The wail of Kaiser Bill will be (predicts a writer) "All is lost— honor included."
