MANIOTOTO A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.

Theannnal meeting of the Maniototo A. and P. Association was held in the County Council Chambers, on Saturday afternoon. Owing to the morning proving wet the attendance was somewhat poor. Those present were—Messrs P. Bleach (chair), M. Cogan, Kirk, Calder, T. Stephens, . Davey, W. Davis, J. Ryan, • Peter M'Erlane, C. Inder, Mitchell, J. R. Smith, Dr Macknight and the secretary. Minutes. The Secretary read the minutes of last unnual meeting, which were confirmed on the motion of Messrs Inder and Ryan. V Correspondence. There was a large budget of correspondence most of which referred to the past show. There was nothing of .a-very important character in it—lt was received on the motion of Messrs Kirk and Davis. Balance-sheet. • !:The balance-sheet which "was circulated amongst those present was as follows:-*

In moving its adoption the Chairman said last year was a very unfavourable one for holding a show and the day of the show turned out wet. Under such adverse circumstances the result was very successful indeed. ■The present balance sheet showed £46 in the bank ; the last one ,£26 12s lOd Subscriptions had also improved by nearly £4. The outstanding subscriptions of .previous years had been materially reduced, and they had also

the silver cup, which had cost £5 'ss Of course, owing to the circumstances under';'which the show was held entry foes had dropped and also the gate money Still the profit of £l4 on the years transactions was very satisfactory, and the result reflected great credit on the secretary. SI At every other show in the colony the judges and class stewards were provided with lunch and he did not see why it should not be done here.

?$ Mr W. Davis thought the . entry money should h be paid on the day of the show, or the exhibit should not be allowed to go into the ring J replied that the secretary'would not have time to look so strictly after the entry fees on show clay. If such a rule were to be enforced, he might have a list and acquaint the stewards as to who had not paid their fees "UMr Inder seconded the motion and also made some references to the very gratifying results they had achieved

The motion was then carried. Before vacating the "hair Mr Bleach returned thanks to the members and to the class" stewards for the support they had given him during the year. He thought they should be strict in appointing class stewards, as it was nesesary they should be in attendance at the show 3arly

Election of Officers

On the motion of Messrs Ryan and Davis Mr Bleach was requested to retain the chair Office bearers were then elected as follows :—Patron, J. A. Mapherson, Esq., M..H.R. ; president, Mr A. B. Grounds Committee: Messrs Weir, W M Mawhinney, Forrester,' Peter M'Erlane, C J Inder, Logan, W Davis, P M Law, Cleugh, and officers ex officio.

Entry Money. Mr J R Smith thought that the entry papers should bear in large letters that all entry money must be paid at time of entry. *■ He agreed with Mr Davis's remarks.

Mr Kirk thought the secretary should be as free as possible on that day. Last year each entrant received a ticket from him and he had to show it to the class -stewards on entering the ring. They might get over the difficulty if that system were enforced. The Secretary said that if a man promised to pay him again he had given him a ticket. It would be very hard to enfore any such rule. Mr Calder thought the society had done very well to be out only £3 in two years. £He thought the secetary should have a free hand in the matter The Chairman said the seretary considered he could collect a good deal of what was outstanding. Date of Show.. ■ On the motion of Messrs Inder and Davis Thursday. 17 th. Decjejmber, was fixed as the date of the show. " General. The auditor was voted £1 Is on the motion of Messrs Kirk and Mitchell; Mr Kirk said that last year their cup for the aggregate was won by- Mr John Hamilton of Lauder, who had or some years been one of their best exhibitors. Some little time ago he died, and he - would move That they, place on record their sense of his loss, and that a copy be sent to his widow.—Seconded by Mr Inder who referred to Mr Hamilton's gentleman like qualities as an exhibitor. The chairman also endorsed these remarks.. During the last two years he had con tributed very largely towards the success of the show. . The motion was then-carried. Mr Davis said that Mr M'Ghie, who had judged on one or two occasions, had suggested that they should start judging at 1 o'clock instead of 11, To be on the ground at 11 meant staying at Ranfurlythe night before, whichwas not always convenient. If 1 were the time they could arrive by the train.

Mr Smith expressed a contrary opinion One would make it to late for those who wanted to remove their stock on ■ the day of the show. After some discussion the subject

Mr Bleach moved—That the secretary be instructed to issue luncheon tickets tothe .class stewards and judges —Seconded by Mr Mitchell.—Carried,

On the motion of Mv Mitchell the retiring president was accorded a vote of thanks.
