THE COLONIAL WOOL MARKET.
The second series of Wool sales started at Christchurch on Thursday la-t (14th inst.) and established two records, one in regard to the quantity offered, which w as 23,000 bales, and the other as to the attendance of buyers The latter included a large contingent of foreign firms, nevertheless'prices show an easier tendency. Fine halfbred and good three-quartetbred maintained last sales' rates. Merinos and crossbreds* in sympathy with the London market, were £d weaker. There were heavy withdrawals owing to the reserves not being reached. Prices ranged thus : Merino, £}d to lid.; halfhted, 9d to 13d£d ; f-brert, B£d to l2d j crossbred, Bid to 9Jfl ; Down, lOd to lljd. Pieces—merino, 9}d ; haltbred, 9£d to lid : crossbred, 7£d to 9|d ; locks, 4d to 6Jd.—Exchange.
