PATEAROA GUN CLUB.
OPEN MEETING. (By Oub Patearoa Correspondent). The closing meet of the season was fired off on Saturday last. There was a good attendance of shooters, with a large number of spectators, many of them ladies The shooting was very good, and after a keen straggle E. Griffiths (18vds) anil F. Blakely (11yds) weic left to fire off for first and second places with 8 birds each, while J. Schrick (19yds), J. M-Dowell (15yds). J. Wilson (14yds), W. Lusher (13yds). T. Hall (12yds) tied for third place with Teach. lu the shoot off blakely took first prize (£3) with 4 consecutive hits, Griffiths failing at his fourth bird and taking second priz; (3»s>. Third prize (10s) was secured by T. Hali with three continuous kills. A sweepstake 7 birds each wft« then shot off, Messrs W. Hall and J. Grieve i.ividin-_-first and second money with seven kills each. Messrs S. Orccr. J. Schrick. F. Blakely and D. Hall and J. Keely shot off for the trophy given for the Richest individual scorer for the season. These gentlemen had previously tied with 11 birds each (out of 12), and in the shout off Mr Hall proved victorious. As I mentio led last week, Mr I). Chirnside won the trophy for the best season's average. The trophies are handsome half-guinea pipes. September 22nd, 1903.
