FOOTBALL.

The Otago representative team drew with Auckland on Saturday when each team scored three points. Io was generally thought iu Auckland that Otago would be beaten so Southerners are quite content with the draw. Otago has a. second team touring Ceutral Otago playing comity teams at the various centres. They expect to meet a Maniototo team on Tuesday in Naseby but as St. Bathans is unable to send any men it will devolve on the Prospectors to bear the brunt of battle. This is the more unfortunate as the visit is mado in a year whsn football is dead. Dead is, perhaps, hardly the word to use, for there is just a spark of life left, which one or two of the more enthusiastic and energetic footballers are trying to fan into a flame ready for Tuesday. If our boys can hold their own at all it will be greatly to their credit for they are not only out of form but also out of condition, and a sport kuows what that means. The visitors are to be entertained at a dance on Monday evening and at a smoke concert on Tuesday, when it is to be hoped they will thoroughly enjoy themselves. Following are the Naseby players : Full-back, Q Travis ; three-quarters.pi'K. Marshall, H. Moore, Jno. Hore; halves, W. Guffie, W. King, Jones; forwards, J Marslin, J. Hore, VV. Hore, E. Smith, j' Blair, T. Dowling, D. Marshall, J. Francis In the match against Lawrence the Otago football team on Wednesday won by HO points to nil. Iu the interprovincial match against Taranaki (Wednesday) Otago won by 12 to nil.
