ST. BATHANS LITERARY, DEBATING, AND DRAMATIC SOCIETY.
A meeting* wag Held in Thurlow's "Vulcan Hotel on Wednesday, 20th December, at 8 p.m. John M'Combe, A. Thurlow, -J. ;Wall,\ P. O'Regan, G. Turner, L/Purtonj.P, ] Toomey, J. M'Eneany, M; Hanrahan, ■ J. Comiick, and ; J. H. Thompson. . Mr John M'Combe was voted to the chair. , It was proposed by Mr Thompson, and "seconded by Mr P. O'Regan— That a society be formed, and that it be called the St. Bathans Literary, Debating, and Dramatic Society.— Carried. Proposed by Mr Thompson, and seconded by Mr Toomey—That the initiation fee to this.society be fixed at 5s for gentlemen, ladies to be admitted free.—Carried. Proposed by Mr Thompson, and seconded by Mr Leo Purton —That the first Friday night iu each month be set apart for debates, and the third Friday night for social evenings. Carried. Proposed by Mr P. Toomey, and' seconded by Mr O'Regan—-That Mr Thompson be appointed secretary and treasurer. —Carried. The secretary was" instructed to write to Mr Nolan asking the price for the use of his hall for six nights ] per month two Fridays and four Wednesdays. The meeting then concluded with a vote of thanks to the chairman. A second meeting was held in Thurlow's "Vulcan Hotel, on Friday, -the 29th December, 1893: Present j Messrs J. M'Combe, A. T. Cavcll, , j Cuthlwrt Rhoyds, Fish, W. Thurlow, sen., Thompson, and M'Ritchie.
