PEOM OUB CO-RESPONDENT. (BY TELEGRAPH.) DUNEDIN, May 3. DEFAULTING LESSEES. A report from Banger Valpy on the deferred-payment holdings of Messrs Peat, Brown, Ewart and Shaw, Mount Hyde district, was considered. ft was decided to give notice to the licenses to show cause before the 30fch inst why their licenses should not be forfeited for breach of conditions. SUSPECTED DUMMIES. Matthew Elliott was granted the deferred-payment pastoral license for which he applied last week. No action, however, in regard to M'Caw's and Fisher's applications was taken. Several other applicants caine up,,; but all were postponed. BUN 244, IDA VALLEY. The Chief Commissioner brought before the Board for consideration plans of the sub-division of Eun 244, Ida Valley. The subdivisions varied in size from about 1,000 to 2,000 acres. Mr Green was of opinion that the sections surveyed were too large for the requirements of the settlers for whom they were intended. Mr Stout thought the whole of tie land would go into the hands of the runholder. The only remedy would be to prevent a man buying more than one asked if there was any getting an amendmont of the session. w Stout understood the Minister for Hftids had said he was not opposed to ■eh an alteration of the law as he had ■■erred to. The Act would have to be ■■ended in any case for other things. He ■uld move :—(1) That the sale of these deferred for two months, until ■be seen whether Parliament will amend He Land Act so as to prevent anyone Basing more than one section of pastoral ■nd near settlement; (2) that the attenBon of the Minister of Lands be drawn •/the necessity of an alteration of the Wsv in this respect. jl After further discussion the resolution ■as carried. I THE BECENT LAND SALES. ■ The Board considered what course Ikould be taken with the runs which ■■ere passed in at the recent sales.
