Private letters from Auckland mention a rumor current there, to the effect that Sir George Grey has for-some time been in communication with Dr. Featherston, and that if the former stands for Auckland City West, the latter vrill probably throw up the A (rent.-Generalship, and seek a Beat in the .F louse of Representa-* tives, probably as' successor to Mr. Fox for Rangitikei.—' Post.'
