MINERS' ASSOCIATION.
The usual monthly meeting of themembers of the Committee was held at '■"■ Mr. Busch's residence oh Saturday evening last. In the absence of the Chairman Mr. Thomas Jackson occupied the Chaix. The minutes of the last meeting wereread and confirmed. COBBESPONDBKCB.T--IKWABD : Letter received from the Secretary of the Miners* Association stating, that Messrs. Borton and M'Mas- - ter have commenced an action against the ~ J ~ minersthere for polluting" the river- 1 - * damages being laid at £IO,OOO. Letter from Mr. John Eccles, statingthat he is anxious to purchase a piece of* ground (J acre) on which the WelcomeInn is situated; and, feeling confident that it is of no auriferous value, or likely . - to be required for an outlet for tailings,. £ asking the Association to report favorably ..* on his application to purchase the same.r— After some discussion '. this matter wasi postponed till next meeting, in order to. make enquiries respecting the auriferous character of the ground. SALE .OF BACK SECTIONS. The Committee expressed their astonishment and regret at the late sale of sections to Messrs. Stephens and Lawiur notwithstanding the protest by the Asso- F ciation some tune ago against this sale, as-"' being well-known auriferous ground, and situate on the bank of .the Sludge Channel. ,; . , _',',_ . .■'■■'-.^:\ WATEB POLIT/TION AT MAEBEWHEHtTA. ■ ; A long discussion ensued relative to the action taken by Messrs. Borton and M'Master in the important matter of river pollution. The several articles.^' which have recently appeared in the ' 'Mount Ida Chronicle' upon this subject were read and discussed, when it was considered that their appreciation by the Committee should be recorded. The- ."";■" following resolution was unanimously car*- 7 riedonthe motion of Mi. James Hore seconded by Mr. Kealy—" That the able leaders published for the last few weeks-" in the 'Mount Ida Chronicle," in defence of the rights of the miners in this impor- /" tant matter of river pollution, deserve''"" special acknowledgment from this and'"""-'-. kindred Associations, and that the thanks- ' of the Committee be tendered .to thef " editor for the same, wifch a request that"' he will continue to advoeate and defend the important interest with which he is= so, well acqainted." - . .i.;:r,Ti After the usual vote of thanks to Mr. Busch, the meeting broke np. - . < -J X
