Mr. J. L. Gillies" arrived here last veiling, in company with Mr. Warden •Robinson, and took up his quarters at reorge's Victoria Hotel. During the lining, Mr. Gillies met some of the

lentlemen of the town,- and we underfiapd it to be his intention, this mornpg, to ride over the adjoining country ito ascertain, by personal observation, jvvhat land in the neighborhood is suit-p-4e for the purposes of agriculture and commonage. Considering that, hitherjto Mr. Gillies has been eminently successful in. his negotiation with the iquatters in the districts through which pe has passed, we trust that his presence in this neighborhood may be attended with equally satisfactory results.
