OBITUARY .

MRS NELLIE BARRY, AGED 47 YEARS. . It is with deep regret that we have to record the death of Mrs Nellie. Barry, wife of Mr P. J. Barry, of Whyte’s Hotel, Foxton, which took place in a private hospital in Wellington yesterday. The late Mrs Barry had suffered illhealth for some time and although her death was not unexpected the news of her passing cast a gloom over the community when it was ,made known yesterday. Born in Masterton in 1890, a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs H. J. O’Leary, well-known settlers in the Wairarapa, deceased received her education in Masterton and was married in Napier. She was of a quiet ar.d reserved disposition but during her four years’ sojourn in Foxton, made many friends. Besides her husband deceased leaves a family of five, three daughters and two sons. They are Misses Joan, Molly and Helen Barry, of Foxton, and Mr Frank (Palmerston North), and Pat Barry, of Foxton. Mesdames E. Peters (Masterton), J. McKenna (Bunnythorpe), and J. Brophv (Palmerston North) are sisters of deceased and Messrs J. (Timaru), H. F. and Rev. Father O’Leary (Wellington), and J. .O’Leary (Masterton) are brothers. The funeral will take place locally to-molrow. Requiem mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. MRS. E. A. JONSON, AGED 89 YEARS. The death occurred in the Palmerston North Hospital yesterday of Mrs Elizabeth Ann' Jonson, of Avenue Rd., Foxton. Deceased was 89 years of age. Mrs Jonson had been a resident of Foxton for the past 5*2 years, and for a considerable time the late Mrs Jonson had been living alone in her house in Avenue Rd., and when a friend called at the house to visit her on Saturday and failed to obtain any response, the police were notified. On ' further investigations being made, Mrs Jonson was found ill in bed, apparently suffering from a stroke. She was removed to the Palmerston N. Hospital where she passed away the next day. There is no family. MRS ELIZABETH BARNETT, AGED 84 YEARS. The death occurred at the residence of her daughter, Mi’s I. Williams, on Tuesday last, of Mrs Elizabeth Barnett, aged 84 years, a resident of Foxton for the past 26 years. Deceased was born at Trowbridge, Wiltshire, England in 1853 and came to New Zealand in the sailing ship “Ruparelle,” the voyage occupying six months. After a. sojourn in the Dominion, deceased went to the Fiji Islands where she remained for two years when she returned to Auckland ana in 1877 married the late Mr W. H, Barnett. In 1911 she came to Foxton, two years after her husband’s death, and she remained here until the time of her demise. She led a quiet and reserved life but nevertheless endeared herself to a large circle of friends who will regret her passing. She leaves a grown-up family of four' sons and four daughters. They are Messrs S. W. (Auckland), S. J. (Foxton), A. W. (P.N.) and B. T. Barnett (Utiku) and Mesdames White (Masterton), Williams (Hamilton), Williams (Foxton), and Bland (Auckland). One son was killed in the Great War. The funeral took place locally last Thursday. ,
