FOXTON REPERTORY SOCIETY.
INAUGURAL MEETING. A well attended meeting for the purpose of inaugurating a Repertory Society in Foxton was held at the residence of Mrs 11. A. Hannay, of Purcell Street, last evening. Mr M. E. Perreau occupied the chair and also present were Mesdames M. E. Perreau, D. R. Barron, J. M. Thomson, J. T. Edwards, H. A. Hannay, Misses E. McKenzie, U. Thomson, G. Allan and Messrs M. E.' Perreau, D. R. Barron, Bert, Hinds and J. T. Edwards. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames W. Trueman, G. H. Symons. R. N. Speirs, E. Bryant, Misses Joan and Mary Thynne, Audrey and Joan Ban’on, D. Pillar, R. Bennett, N. Woods and Messrs W. M. Thomas, C. Watkins, G. Woods and Y. B. Collins. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Patron: Mr J. K.
Hornblow; President: Mr M. E. Perreau; vice-presidents: Messrs D. R. Barron, Bert Hinds, R. N. Speirs, and A. P. Easton; committee: Mesdames Perreau, Barron, J. M. Thomson, Misses U. Thomson and G. Allen; Messrs Barron, Hinds and Edwards, with power to add; secretary and treasurer: Mrs H. A. Hannay; hon. auditor: Mr Wm. Trueman.
It was decided to hold not less than two entertainments each year. In order to enable the society to commence operations next season on a financial footing, it was decided to- hold an entertainment on October 20th, the first half to comprise plays and items, including contributions by Palmerston N. artists and to conclude with supper and a dance. A vote of thanks to the chair and to Mrs Hannay for the use of her room concluded the meeting.
