OR. CUNNINGHAM TO CONTINUE RESEARCH WORK.
MINISTER’S ANNOUNCEMENT. Christchurch, Last Night. 1 ' Dr. G. H. Cunningham, who recently resigned his position in charge of the Plant Research station at Palmerston North, will continue his services at the station, said Hon. D. G. Sullivan to-day. Mr Sullivan said the Government had been impi*essed with the increasing need for attention to scientific research in the problems of protection of plants from disease, 1 and in addition to the impf’ovepients to the facilities at the Plant Research Station at Palmei'ston, arrangements have been mado for a continuance of Dr. Cunning ham’s services. !
This news, Mr Sullivan said, would no doubt be welcomed by the various agricultural and fruit interests which had made representa'tions to the Government on the subject. iSbrne months ago Dr. Cunningham had intimated his desire to resign from the Government sei’viee with a view to proceeding with work overseas, but because of the improved facilities, etc., Di\ Cunningham had now signified his desii’e to continue with the department in his research in plant diseases and arrangements have been made by the Public Service Com-, missioner accordingly.
