Mr R. Coulter has been selected as the Labour Party candidate for Waikato. Mr. Coulter is Mayor of Te Aroha, an office he has held for 14 years. Mrs E. Titcombe, President of the Foxton Women’s -Institute, left for Auckland yesterday, ivliere she Avill attend the annual conference of the Neiv Zealand Women’s Institutes.

Mr E. Stevenson, who has been a member of the local Post Office staff for the past six years, has received notice of his transfer to Hawera. Mr. Stevenson* Jeaves at an early date and Mr L. J. Thompson, of the local staff, will fill the position.

The death occurred suddenly at her home at Kairanga yesterday, of Mrs D. Collis, a well-known and highly respected district resident. Deceased leaves to mourn her passing her husband and a family of four sons and one daughter: Messrs 0. A. Collis, F. D. Collis, 6. Collis, and R. Collis, and Mrs W. McClelland. In addition there are six brothers and four sisters. They are Messrs Cl. E. Shailer (Hawera), C. H. Shailer and W. J. Shailer (Oroua Downs), H. J. Shailer (Himiatangi), A. F. Shailer (Sanson) and A. J. Shailer (P.N.) and Mesdames C. K. Woodroofe (Foxton), A. B. Bulliman (Waikauae), R. W. Parkinson (P.N.) and E. Davenport (Feilding).
