A SMART ARREST.

Last Friday night or early Saturday morning two young men to oikpossession of a Baby Austin car parked in Brougham Street, Wellington, and owned by Messrs Thompson Bros., Ltd., of that city. They commenced motoring northward, but on arriving at. Whirokino found the Foxtori road impassable, due to flood-water. They turned round and headed back to Levin with the intention of journeying -WJ? Shannon. However a Levin resident, who was on the road in the vicinity of the flood, considered their actions unusual and telephoned the Levin police. Constable Burrell pursued the car from Levin, and succeeded in arresting the men in Queen Street.

In the Levin Court on Saturday morning before Mx G. D. Hamilton, J.P., John Coleston arid George Michaliek, were charged with converting to their own use, a Baby Austin cai-, valued at £6O. On the application of the Police they were remanded to appear in the Wellington Magistrate’s Court to-day.
