FOXTON AMATEUR CYCLING CLUB.
CONSIDERS TRACK ON VICTORIA PARK.
A special meeting, of the Foxton Amateur Cycling Club was held in Ross’s rooms on Tuesday evening, presided over by Mr H. Hamer (President). Also present were Messrs Stevens, G. Yorke, H. Dawson, ,J. Preston, A. East, J. Purcell, J. Neville and the secretary (Mr B. Hinds). A discussion ensued, on the proposition of having a cycle track constructed on Victoria Park, it being pointed out that if the Club intended to do anything in this connection it would have to take immediate action as the levelling of the park was proceeding apace.
The President intimated that the cost of a suitable tar-sealed track with floodlighting, and an accommodation shed for competitors, would cost in the vicinity of £SOO. The Club had only £3O odd towards meeting the cost of the proposed worlk. It was decided that the location would be most suitable for the track and ways of means of raising the necessary finance were discussed. •
A proposal to hold a series of competitions and raffles did not meet with favour and it was finally decided to approach the Minister of Internal Affairs with a request that the iClub be included in the list of participants in one of the art unions.
It was decided to solicit Mr J. Linklater’s support in connection with the application.
