EDUCATIONAL.
At yesterday’s meeting of the Wanganui Education Board Mr M. H. Oram, of Palmerston North, congratulated Mr E. F. Hemingway and Mr J. K. Hornblow, on behalf of the board, on being presented with the King’s Jubilee medal. “Both of you,” said Mr Oram, “have thoroughly deserved the honour, and the honour done to education through you.” The report submitted by the architect, Mr Hodge, contained the following reference to district schools.: —
Oroua Downs. —General repairs to the school, residence and outbuildings have been effected and the whole exteriors painted in two coats. Three rooms of the interior have been repapered and new permanent fittings installed in the bath roo,
Bainesse. —An additional tank has been provided to the residence and repairs have been effected to the school building. Rangiotu.—Minor repairs have been effected at both school and teacher’s residence.
The chairman reported confirmation of the following appointments: — : Miss J. M. Peattie, head teacher, Sanson; Mr K. McK. White, headmaster, Linton; Mr L. H. Joblin, solo teacher, Kiwitea; Mi' C. H. Short, sole teacher, Raumai; Mr J. Stewart, sole teacher, Beaconsfield; Mr H. 0. Donnelly, sole teacher, Makino Road; Mir J. E. Macedo, sole teacher, Moutoa; Miss L. V. Fromm, assistant, Oroua Downs; Miss D. B. Martin, assistant, Bulls; Miss D. Curtin, assistant, Kopane; Miss E. M. Harris, assistant, Glen Oroua; Miss M. Lowe, assistant, Parewanui; Miss M. E. Lumsden, assistant, Terrace End Hospital class.
