MANAWATU A. AND P. SHOW.
The Manawatu A. and P. Association’s Show is now in full swing. The side shows are more than usually attractive this year; the merry go round, ocean wave and miniature railway provide the chief source of amusement for the children and many new and up-to-date side shows appeal to the adult public. Brass bands render musical programmes both during the day and at night. Set off with a gay display of bunting on all show buildings the Showgrounds provide a truly carnival setting brimful of interest and entertainment. The city is gaily illuminated at night with many festoons of coloured lights. The business people of Palmerston N. in truly enterprising manner are laying themselves out to provide a light atmosphere to the shopping area, and the city bids to be a very attractive place for the visitor this week. To-morrow at 10.30 o’clock, a demonstration on the qualities of a Jersey cow will be given by the Jersey judge (Mr A. 10. Lovelock)), After the demonstration the President of the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association (Mr D. Collis) will present the prizes won in the Jersey cow judging competition by schoolboys attending primary or secondary schools. Date takings yesterday were up almost £7O.
