STOLEN JEWELLERY.
DOMESTIC FOUND GUILTY Of
RECEIVING.

The sensational robbery of jewellery from the Karangahape road shop of James Paseoe, Ltd., on September 20 was recalled by the prosecution in the Supreme Court of Hilda Jackson, a domestic, aged 33. Accused was charged with receiving a quantity of jewellery, valued at £1378, knowing it to have been dishonestlv obtained.
Detective-Sergeant McHugh described breaking into a room at accused’s boarding-house. When asked where she got the jewellery from, accused answered: “That is for you to find out.” When about to be searched, accused took a gold chain from the toe of her shoe and handed it to witness. Afore articles were found in a linen-press and behind (he wall-boards. Mr. Justice Ilerdman said the extreme simplicity of the issue made the jury’s task comparatively
easy. The jury found accused guilty and she was remanded for sentence.
