The quarterly session of the Supreme Court opened at Palmerston North to-day. There are three criminal cases for trial. Pour civil cases are set down for hearing before the Judge alone. Six petitions in divorce have been filed. Other business to occupy the Court consists of an originating summons under the Family Protection Act, two miscellaneous applications, and three appeals on points of law from Magistrates’ decisions. Four motions for discharge in bankruptcy will be brought forward, and it is anticipated that there will be 60 to 80 applications uinder the Mort- ‘ gagors’ Relief Act.
