ESTATE OF £17,000.

FORMER DANNEVIRKE RESIDENT.

Three public bequests are provided for under the will of Mr. Herbert Chadwick, who died at his residence at Green Lane, on October 7. The estate is valued for probate purposes at under £17,000. Mr. Chadwick, who spent most of his life in New Zealand in Daimevirke, and who was always a prominent Oddfellow, has left £IOOO on perpetual trust to the Loyal Dannevirke Lodge, 1.0.0. F., Manchester Unity, to provide an income to be used for the relief of members of the lodge or their dependants. He has also left to the lodge the Manchester Unity certificate of his grand-father, a document now more than 100 years old. The will further provides bequests of £250 each to the British and Foreign Bible Society and to the Melanesian Anglican Mission. Mr Chadwick, who was a member of a well-known English family in Warwickshire, had reached the age of 73. He came to New Zealand over 50 years ago, and entered the service of a Hastings firm as accountant. Later he moved to Dannevirke, where he took a particularly active part in public affairs. Some ten yeax's ago he went to live in Auckland. The ti’ustees are the New Zealand Insurance Company and Mr T. C. Thomson, solicitor.
