TOWN HALL TALKIES. “A Cuckoo in the Nest,” which was greeted with roars of laughter last night at the Town Hall, is a Gauniont-Britisli pictujrisation of the famous farce by Ben Travers, which played to packed houses at the Aldw.vch Theatre, London, for many months. This picture is important, because it brings together the famous comedians Tom Walls and Ralph Lynn and restores to the fun-loving public the benefit of the I cam-work of Air Walls’ happy bnml of players whose previous performances had earned universal appreciation. It is good to have Mr Tom Walls back in partnership with Mr Ralph Lvnn. The combinatibTr- spells perfect harmony in any farcical situation; and in this story of absurd misunderstandings involving two eminently respectable married couples, it is unalloyed delight. “A 1 Cuckoo in the Nest” is the of their comedies seen for some time and, in the opinion of Ibis scribe, Tom Walls disguised in military face-foliage and chroni-
iillv bibulous, is even more amusing than when he is playing “straight” comedy. Short subjects include a series of “The Life of the P.-ince of Wales,” British News and r :m toon, “Hot, and Cold.” On Monday evening Albert Russell and Reg. Moi'gan will reappear on the stage when they will present their new programme, “Joy Unlimited,” Reg. Aforgan will sing “Little Dutch Mill,” “Home in Wyoming,” “Good Night Little Girl of My Dreams,” and l'equest numbers, while Albert Russell will be beard in the humorous numbers, “The Lions and Albert,” “On Your Honeymoon,” and “Ever So Goosv.” An entire change of pictures will be offered in the first half.
